Glastic 1580 is a flame-resistant electrical insulating laminate manufactured from fiberglass-reinforced thermoset polyester resin that meets UL94 V0 specifications. This NEMA GPO-3 grade material delivers exceptional electrical strength of 425 volts per mil perpendicular to the surface in air and 577 volts per mil in oil, with a parallel surface strength rating of 47 kilovolts in oil. The laminate features a compression strength of 31,200 psi, flexural strength of 24,600 psi, and tensile strength of 8,400 psi, with an arc resistance of 181 seconds. Available in multiple thicknesses ranging from 0.031 to 0.094 inches and standard sheet dimensions of 36 by 72 inches, this material maintains a temperature rating of 120°C electrical and 140°C mechanical. The white polyester composite exhibits outstanding punchability and dimensional stability, making it ideal for television industry applications, arc stack assemblies, and flyback transformer construction.
