Extend the Life of Your Tank: The Free ELANTAS Tank Maintenance Program
Essex Brownell has a long-standing partnership with ELANTAS and is proud to be a recommended distributor. In Part III of our ELANTAS Series, we’ll explore how to protect one of your largest investments by utilizing the ELANTAS free Tank Maintenance Program, designed to aid in keeping the integrity and extending the life of your tank.
One of the largest investments that most shops will make is their VPI or Dip tank. Providing regular maintenance is the only way to ensure integrity and extend the life of your tank.
The potential risk of not providing regular maintenance to your tank is that the contents no longer fall into the recommended control range. The material then becomes unstable, separates, gels, or hardens, and eventually becomes unusable.
Letting your tank go bad is costly. Not only do you run the risk of having to replace the contents of your tank, but you also may encounter additional fees and challenges. Among these expenses are needing to hire outside contractors to aid in cleaning, removal, and disposal. This is especially true if the material is hazardous. If there is any damage to your tank, you can expect to pay for tank repairs like recoating the interior.
Poor tank maintenance can also cause disturbances in your application quality causing you to scrap, which can slow or halt production. This can also waste or increase labor resources.
Regular maintenance will include monitoring storage conditions to ensure temperatures and environments meet the product requirements, ensuring the part’s temperature is preheated to the recommended temperature, stirring, agitating, or turning contents, filtering particles, and replenishment, as recommended. You can contact your Essex Brownell Representative for more specific information on maintenance instructions.
To support your regular tank maintenance and to help ensure the correct replenishments are made, ELANTAS created the free Tank Maintenance Program. ELANTAS also recommends having your tank tested once a quarter. Regular testing will increase the likelihood of correcting your tank if it falls out of the recommended control range. It will also help determine the correct quantities and additives for your replenishments.
To participate in the free ELANTAS Tank Maintenance Program, contact your Essex Brownell Representative for a sampling kit. This will be mailed to you free of charge, shipping and handling is included. Once received, you will need to fill out the label and information sheet, collect a sample, and ship to ELANTAS for testing with a prepaid shipping label.
ELANTAS will evaluate your sample and send you a report. If your sample measures are outside of the control range, it will be shown in red on your report. ELANTAS will advise which products and quantities are needed to restore your tank. Here is an example of this report.
