Subject: Implementation of the 2012 OSHA Hazard
Essex Brownell, a subsidiary of Essex Group, Inc., is
committed to ensuring our customers have all the latest information for the
products we sell. We have been actively
engaged with all of our suppliers to ensure that we have the latest safety
information available, which includes the transition to the United Nations Globally
Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) as
required by the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (HCS). Below is the timeline for implementation of
March 20, 2012. OSHA issued final updates to the HCS which
included closer alignment to the GHS.
HCS must be fully implemented by June 1, 2016, with several interim

must ship products in compliance with HCS in GHS format. Distributors
may continue to ship to us in the old format until December 1, 2015.

our customers in the old format

June 1, 2016. All employers must be compliant with the 2012
note that articles are exempt from HCS labeling and SDS requirements. Although magnet wire is an article, we have
developed an SDS to assist our customers with implementation of the HCS.
date we have received very few of the products we distribute labeled in the new
GHS format. We have reached out to our
partners and they have assured us that their implementation will meet the June
1, 2015 deadline. When we receive
updated information including SDS we will make them available immediately with
the first shipment. If you need an SDS
for a product received before June 1, 2015, please contact your Essex Brownell
customer service representative.
